James Joyce Beer Tasting: India Pale Ales, Weds. May 2, Durham

(1/1)

hopalong:
King of Beers?  Or, perhaps Raja?  Depends on your taste, of course, but India Pale Ale (IPA) holds a special place in the palate of many craft beer lovers.  Hoppier and maltier than ordinary Pale Ale, IPA was developed to withstand 19th century shipping from England to the Empire.  Modern English IPAs are a bit tamer than their forebears, though the American versions kick it up a notch as usual.  And then there are the Double (Imperial) IPAs...

Expect ABV of around 6% for an IPA, and up to 10% for a Double.  For our May James Joyce beer tasting, we'll be tasting a range of IPAs, both foreign and domestic, even local.  And one even comes in a can.  Please come and join us on Wednesday, May 2nd, 7:00-10:00 PM.  Six pours, approximately 6 oz. each.

As usual, $10 for the tasting, plus $3 for a J.J. tasting glass if you don't already have one from a previous tasting.  Starts at 7 and ends at 10pm; show up any time in between and taste at your own pace.  Don't forget your glass!
