Raleigh Rare and vintage Beer tasting
« on: November 14, 2011, 08:03:12 AM »
Tyler's Taproom in Raleigh is hosting the first annual Rare and Vintage beer tasting on Feb. 4th at our Seaboard Station location.  We have around 40 of the best breweries from around the country bringing in unique beers for this event.  We are limiting the sale of tickets so the event will not get too crowded and everyone can have a good time. Proceeds go to support Pint for Prostates.  For more info or to buy tickets check out the website www.raleighrarebeertasting.com

Is there any information about what "rare/vintage" beers will be there?  I saw the brewery link

Latest I heard was first week in Dec. but they hedged a bit ..

I pulled the trigger on this. A beer event with a "limited amount of tickets" means to me good beer, and room to breath while I'm drinking it. Should be fun!

As the breweries inform us what they are bringing we will post that info.  If you follow the event on twitter or FB we will be sending out messages as we know the beers.  Anderson Valley has a committed a Boon Oude Bruijn and Rodenbach is kegging the 2009 Rodenbach for the event.

If you go to http://www.raleighrarebeertasting.com/the-beers/ it will show you a list of the beers currently set to be at the festival.  We will try to update it as we are notified of new beers.  About 70% of the available tickets are sold do if you think you are interested you may want to get yours now.

Only around 20 tickets left for this event and we sold 45 yesterday, so if you are still thinking about it you may want to buy yours today.

How many attendees do you expect?  I'm trying to plan when to arrive from Greensboro, not sure whether to expect hour long lines if I get there too late, or if it's a few hundred people and lines won't be an issue.

Thanks!

Any highlights or comments from the event?

Sort of like the very early WBF's I went to. People who went cared more about the beer and less about getting hammered. Reasonable amount of people for the space, hope it stays small like that! If it hadn't been raining people would have spread out on the deck.

Exactly as advertised, "rare and vintage" for all of the beers.. I was a kid in a candy store. Had to be thoughtful after the first handful of beers since they were pretty much all heavy hitters in the ABV. Didn't have to pour out any that I tried. I ended up leaving about 4:30 or so since I was foolish enough to think I could go to the Canes game (did make it through two periods  )

Tylers staff in the main restaurant were awesome to all of the folks, since this event mixed with the regular restaurant being open. Later during the event they started bringing out tons of finger food (little corn dog things were tasty!). Great big check was given to Pints for Prostates so it was also for a great cause!

Bottom line is I will be going again if they do it again.
