Williams Warn Personal Brewery
« on: April 28, 2011, 06:38:52 AM »
At $5,000 it is out of my budget for a toy.

I plan on making my first home brew this year.

I am curious to see what experienced home brewers think of this.

Looks to me like a Mr Beer and one of those (Krups?) Heinekin machines had a baby... ;)

Looks like a rich kids toy. Has some sound ideas (constant temps to control fermentation etc..) but no way would I suggest that thing to anyone. 5 grand could keep you in craft brew for a long time.

You can make really good homebrew with a big pot on the stove and a food grade plastic bucket. Naturally like any hobby you can also spend a lot more, the more you get into it! Besides if you get into homebrewing, you enjoy all of the parts that make it up. It's a whole process thing that lots of us get into. If all I did was press a button and homebrew pored out the other end, it wouldn't be fun to do anymore!

Waste of money.
I brew, therefore, I have homebrew.

^What they said. For much less, you can get something much more useful.

Lots of glam and sparkle, but not what it seems.

Was that describing you or the machine?

Thanks for the feed back. The device seems to be way to expensive and missing the craft part of home brewing.

You'd be surprised at what you could put together for a fraction of the cost. Start with a basic kit and add extra stuff later on. Craiglist is yo' friend.

I think I already have most of what is needed. We tailgate and cook for about 20 people. So I have acquired several large stainless steel and aluminum pots. I have a two burner portable LP range that has 75,000 btus on each burner. So it is just a matter of me devoting the time to it. I have signed up for the beginners class at Brewmasters this tuesday.
