4/8 Firkin @ Huske, suggestions for the 4/15 firkin?
« on: April 06, 2009, 02:15:29 PM »
Dear Beerinators:
Since ya'll seemed to enjoy the Spring Refreshment Ale so much( I only had to dump a gallon, lol) I'm gonna do a variation based on a patriotic regional brewery's summer ale. Yes, the blonde will be flavored with lemon zest, lemongrass and grains of paradise. :dancebeer:

I'm open for suggestions regarding the April 15th firkin as I think the people should have their say on a day when the govt doesn't let the people have their say.
Soapbox: Ahem, NCABC is trying to raise our state excise tax from $.53 to $.96 on beer. There will be a NC tea party  at the corner of Bow and Person streets at noon to protest Beverly Purdue's tax increase in an already overburdened state. :argh: Make your voice heard if you care about a potential dollar increase in the price of your pints .

In that spirit: I can take any of my 7 base beers, add hops, french oak, liquor, spices or fruits, What do you want to see in your tax day firkin? The winner will have their first pint on me.
Cheers,
Julie

Take your red ale, roast some jalapenos and dry hop over top of them. Don't go too over the top, but just enough for some heat. Call it something like "hot under the collar ale", or maybe "angry brewer ale" etc..  :D

What about adding some chamomille tea?  I don't know if it would work in the beer, but it would get the point across

Toasted oak with grains of paradise. I like the way you hopped the last firkin on 4/8. As for liqour flavor...bourbon is a little played out. A hint Southern Comfort flavor may be tasty.
