oct. 24 - the melvins

The Carrboro/CH music scene smacks me silly all next week:
-- M. Ward, Portastatic, Lambchop...all on the same night? NFW!
-- Calexico the next night? Dang!
-- Jose Gonzalez (from Sweden, natch) AND Sufjan Stevens BOTH, THE VERY NEXT DAY? Hide my wallet...whoops, too late.
-- Citizen Cope the next night? AND Richard Buckner at the 506 the same night? Enough already. Save it for February or something!
It's a bad week to be out of a job, that's for sure. That's one good thing about the students being back...the shows are amazing. Major props to the area clubs and venues for putting on such great acts, though I do wish more general public tickets were available for the Sufjan performance...
Jonathan Surratt:
I know pandy's offering, but peetoteeto's options are out there where I don't live.
My main question is how have the Melvins lasted this long (I haven't looked or heard of new releases since the 90's)? Why haven't they self-destructed or killed each other with shotguns and pretended that it was suicide... (totally just kidding -seriously).
Anyway for those of you who come behind me...

The main thing that peetoteeto's post reminded me of was 'Citizen Dick'!!!

So glad that I reminded you of "dick."
(apologies, I just finished a 750ml of JP La Roja. Too sour for wifey, finished all myself.)
Jonathan, you must get Sufjan's Illinoise album! It's all about your new digs! Though it might be a little, uh, tender for your liking. At least download the single "Chicago."
Um, beer! (Uttered when I recognize my posts are non-beer-related)
Flash:
Q: A song like "Touch Me, I'm Dick" is about what?
A: I think "Touch Me, I'm Dick" in essence, speaks for itself. I think, you know, that's basically what the song is about. It's about, you know....A lot of people might think it's actually about...my name is Dick, and you can touch me...but I think, you know, it can be seen either way.
Oh, and, um, beer.
