As a former bar owner I know the liabilities a bar takes on by serving alcohol. That waitress probably could have been nicer or handeled it better but if you were to pull out of that parking lot hit someone kill them not only are you at fault but she and the places she works at are also.
Case in point the bars that the news reporter from greensboro that killed someone after leaving a bar are possible going to be under a law suit for over serving or being irresposible.
Also did you ever think that A.L.E. could have posible been in the building and she was just covering her ass. A.L.E. fines can be as much as 100,00 for the owners and up to 5,000 for the employee(plus loss of job) should they not follow the rules set by the A.L.E.
I hate being asked if I am ok to drive but I have to think its not just my life in jeopardy its the waitress's lively hood, the bars lively hood, and any one they I may harm even tho I only had 4 beers. Even a small bump up after 4 beers could put you in jail and possible cause the oss of your vehicle should the cop smell the beer on you, so just think about that when you are confronted with this situation.
That what pissed me off, I have been asked before and was fine with it.
