I have always been a big fan of Duck Rabbit beers, and kudos to them for their great brews.
I do have an item for discussion, however. When they first came out with the Baltic Porter, Wee Heavy, Barleywine and Impy Stout, I noticed a similar sour-like flavor in all of them that I attributed to the yeast being used. I seem to remember a forum about this quite a while back.
This weekend, I had a beer tasting and we had one bottle of the original '06 Baltic Porter, and one bottle of the '07 version. Both have been stored in my fridge since purchase.
I thought the beers would age better than they did. In fact, the sour-like flavor I noticed when the beers first came out was greatly intensified and really gave the beers a bad flavor, IMO.
Has anyone else had this experience? Is it the strain of yeast being used?
I don't believe the bottles were spoiled, given that I have noticed this same flavor in multiple batches and styles from the brewery.
Any thoughts?
