beerinator.com issues / Re: Anybody still keeping an eye on this board?

Forums updated with hopefully a stronger spam solution. Now new registered users have to answer what city Highland Brewing or Duck-Rabbit Brewing are located (idea hat tip: GCBrewingCo).

Hopefully this will help a bit... I actually like the layout and look of this default theme, but if anyone wants me to move it back to the old version or something similar I can do that.

I don't know how quickly they can get up and running, but the guy who is starting the business, Seth Gross, is a good friend of mine that actually taught me to homebrew. I was a little shocked by the Feb 2011 date too. A place here in Chicago has basically done something similar and launched a website and magazine articles announcing a 5 month away opening date. They've since pushed it out a month or so, but it looks like they're going to be under 7.

Yeah, it's broken and I haven't had the chance to fix it yet. It's going to probably take a lot of work and I'm not 100% sure I have enough time to support it anymore. I don't make any money off of it, I don't really even look at it much anymore and it's basically using a really large amount of server resources.

We'll see. Eventually I will have to put up a page describing some of the issues.

I only purchase beer from 12 ounce growlers unless the 32, 64 or 128 ounce growlers are available. I would buy beer in 256 ounce growlers though if it were a Thursday or Friday when I had worked too much on Wednesday or Tuesday.

With all this said; I wish I were near Busy Bee to purchase growler fills from them.

This sounds fun! Someone from the NC Brewers Guild should come pick me up in the official NCBG jet.

A coworker of mine is good friends with the interviewer on this story.  He told me today about this episode and the Duck Rabbit interview as well.  I got a chance to tune in and it was a fun 5 10 minute highlight of highland brewing.  I enjoyed the show.  Look forward to hearing the DR episode in time as well.

I'm assuming you mean Kelly McCullen? He's the guy I mentioned in my first post. Said he had a good interview at Duck-Rabbit.

Here's the full Highland video.

A friend of mine from high school works for UNC-TV and does interviews for some of their shows.

This week he has an interview with Oscar Wong at Highland Brewing coming on "NC Now" that he says should be airing tonight at 7:30
http://www.unctv.org/ncnow/

He is also headed today to interview at Duck-Rabbit (I'm assuming Paul?).

I have no idea whether these are long or short interviews and I have not been able to see them yet. I'm assuming from a quick glance at the NC Now web page that eventually the shows will eventually be available online.

I think it is fantastic this year. The last few have been ggod, but this one seems more like the beer it was when beerinator picked me up a case of liters. 2004 perhaps?

Yeah it was either 2004 or 2003, can't totally remember. I remember how good that year was. I was disappointed with the next couple of years.

I read that if it has nipples, you can milk it. Or maybe I saw it in a movie somewhere...

If anyone is wondering, I also don't think I would be a fan of chili beers in 90+ degree NC weather. I am also not a fan of my salsa tasting like malt and hops and being served in a pint glass during the summer either if that makes a difference. Salsa and beers are different things and people want to consume them for different reasons.

Totally honest answer: if I were at a ballpark and the only craft option I saw was a chili beer, I would be fairly disappointed and probably would just buy a 3 dollar bottled water. And the crazy thing is, I really do like trying chili beers. Just don't think the ballpark would be a good place for it.

I think something non-gimmicky would be best. A basic, well-made beer.

Kolsch!

Coming soon:  A specific profile for each brewery with social media links, as well as links to BeerAdvocate, RateBeer, and BeerMapping.

Let me know if you need help with that or specific maps.

I wish they hadn't killed knowyourbrewer.com while revamping ncbeer.org.

I think kyb should remain on, but go national instead of just focusing on nc brewers. I would think they could outsource to other beer nerds around the country that could do interviews of brewers all over. Also, it broke the knowyourbrewer feed we had displaying on the front page. I'll link that up with ncbeer when I get a chance.
